Great place to ride and explore on a Mountain Bike! So close to home!

A great walking trail runs around this recreation park. In one walk, you'll see Vistas, an old silver mine, the ruins of Newman's Nursery, maybe even a Koala or two. Be sure to take plenty of water, as parts of the trail can be grueling.

Awesome mixture of fire trail and single track for hiking and bushwalking. Great views of the city, especially at night.

The downside now is that they've been trying to lure in more people, which is good for getting people out and back into nature and exercise, but bad because they've put a big carpark in the paddock, and one of my absolute favourite paths is now 'bikes only', which I find very disappointing (I know, safety and all, but people who want to walk there have to risk it or just miss out). I liked going up there when there wasn't so many bikes, carparks, etc.

I've loved coming up here for years, as I've lived virtually across the road for more than a decade. There are a lot of animals to look out for including kangaroos, koalas, echindas, bearded dragons, multiple native birds including some of the lesser seen ones such as golden whistlers and eastern spinebills, and frogmouths. And if you're into native flora there's a multitude of species, including various orchids at the right time of year.
